.SE Domain Registration

The .SE country-code top-level domain was started in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration process was very restrictive, so a very small number of domain names were bought. Individuals were allowed to obtain only one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a prerequisite, i.e. only Swedish individuals, businesses and organizations could register a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized a lot and, as a consequence, the number of .SE domains has been rising each year.

Today, anybody can acquire a dot SE domain name, which gives you the chance to contact the Swedish net community even if you do not have a local presence.
