There're various reasons why this may happen, the two most common are: using really weak passwords or using out-of-date scripts with well-known vulnerabilities. That way, one single compromised website can make lots of damage to all your sites, as gaining access to a single script usually allows hackers to access the web hosting account. This is the reason why we've introduced a new security option called JailHost. Once enabled, this feature will literally lock an Internet site inside its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, all the other Internet sites in the account will remain hidden. Thus they will be protected from further intrusion. The JailHost option does not mean that you should not keep your websites updated, but it'll greatly minimize the damage.
JailHost in Shared Web Hosting
If you host your websites within a shared web hosting account from our firm, you could protect them by using the JailHost feature with just a couple of mouse clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is accessible with all plans and can be activated for each folder as the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have separate folders, so that files for many different Internet sites do not get mixed up as it frequently happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default because you might use scripts that need access to folders outside the primary site folder and this option can interfere with their correct functioning, but securing all the other folders is very simple. If any protected Internet site gets hacked for whatever reason, we can recover it very quickly as we'll have multiple daily backups of your entire account and you will even be able to browse the available backups through Hepsia.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
JailHost is available with all our semi-dedicated server packages, so if you host several Internet sites, you can easily isolate them from one another so as to keep them safe. The option has to be activated for each and every Internet site and is not active by default, in order to avoid interference with scripts that need access to multiple folders within the account. Activating it for all other domains will take no more than several clicks inside the Hepsia internet hosting Control Panel. Unlike other Control Panels, Hepsia doesn't place different Internet sites under the main domain folder. Instead, every domain or subdomain has its very own folder, which makes it much simpler to manage and shield all of your websites. In case that an Internet site inside your account gets hacked, not only will your other sites remain untouched, but we'll also be able to recover the damaged website before you know it as we will have multiple backups of your whole content.
