Password Protected Directories
Learn how to set up a secure and user-only area in your website with password-protected directories.
A password-protected directory or area is a folder which could be accessed only if a username and a password are provided, so no unauthorized individuals can check out its content. This feature can be used for the main folder of a given website or just for a certain subfolder depending on your requirements. As an example, if you are building a new site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completely ready, you might want to limit the access to it entirely, and if you would like only some individuals to be able to access particular files, you'll be able to password-protect only a certain folder, while the remaining portion of the site could be seen by everyone. In either case, a “403 Forbidden” error page shall appear when the login details the visitor inputs aren't right. Even a direct link to a file won't work provided any folder above it is password-protected.
